LOBEKE NATIONAL PARK SAFARI

‘The kingdom of Gorillas’
Situated in the East Region of Cameroon, the Lobeké National Park,
which forms part of the Congo Basin, is situated in the far south east of
Cameroon. It has a surface area of 217854 ha. Created on 19 March
2001, it is being managed by the Trans frontier Conservation Initiative,
known by the name Sangha Tri-national (TNS). It is a landscape made up
mostly of biodiversity conservation, which also includes the DzanghaSangha protected airs (CAR) and Nouabalé-Nkoki (Congo Brazzaville).
Lobeké is made up of swampy clearings particularly in the east side of
the Park; safari lovers can take pictures of elephants, gorillas,
chimpanzees and monkeys using watch towers in the Park to installed to
watch animals.
YOUR ITINERY
Day 1.PARIS- YAOUNDE
Arrival and reception at the Yaoundé International Airport
Transfer to Hotel and settle in.
Dinner and night at Hotel 3*
DAY 2.YAOUNDE-BERTOUA-BATOURI-YOKADOUMA. (620km).
Early wake up and after breakfast, departure for Yokadouma. It is a full
day of car to arrive in the night to Yokadouma because this is very
important to allow us to respect the program.
Arrival and installation at the Elephant Hotel, dinner and night.
DAY 3.YOKADOUMA-MAMBELE-CAMP KOMBO (180km)
After breakfast, on the way to Mambele on a degraded dirt road that
requires patience, the arrival at Camp Kombo will be towards the end of
the afternoon.Installation at the lodge of this Camp and preparation for the departure
in the forest the next morning. Dinner and night.
DAY 4. KOMBO CAMP – PETITE SAVANE .
Morning wake- breakfast- departure for the Lobeké National Park; 4 km
in a vehicle and 6 km trekking in the forest- arrival and settle in at the
Camp- departure for watch tower no. 1(small savannah) for animal
watching: gorillas of the plain, monkeys, elephants of the forest, various
bird species; parrots, green pigeons, etc. dinner and night in the tent
DAY.5.PETITE SAVANE-DJANGUI.
Breakfast. Departure for the second watchtower (Djangui) Arrival and
installation at the camp.
Lunch. Departure for the watchtower and observation of animals:
gorillas, buffaloes, elephants, Bongos, chimpanzees, monkeys and a
multitude of birds. Return to the camp. Dinner and night under
observation of animals in the Petit Savane and in the afternoon hike to
reach the big savannah in Ndjangui, installation of the camp dinner and
night in tents.
DAY 6.DJANGUI
Early wake up, breakfast and departure for the safari. Full day of
observation in Djangui to see: (Elephants, Buffaloes, Gorillas, Bongos,
Sitatunga, colonies of Grey Parrots and Green Pigeons).
Dinner and night in tents.
DAY 7 .DJANGUI-MAMBELE-CAMP KOMBO.
Early wake up, breakfast, observation in the morning and return to
Mambele where we find a car at the broken bridge, night at Camp
DAY.8. CAMP KOMBO-YOKADOUMA-BATOURI
Departure very early in the morning because the journey is long and it is
only the track with many logging trucks, arrival in Batouri at nightfall,
dinner and night at the Catholic mission.
DAY.9.BATOURI-YAOUNDE-EBOGO.
En route in the morning after breakfast, arrival in Yaounde and
continuation to the tourist site of Ebogo, via Mbalmayo. Stop to visit the
Mefou National Park. This sanctuary is the fruit of collaboration between
the Cameroonian state and the NGO Cameroon Wild Life Aid Fund
(Cwaf). This cooperation exists since 1988. This semi-liberty area allows
the protection and conservation of at least 350 primates in electrified
enclosures, chimpanzees (the most represented species), gorillas,
baboons, mandrills with multicolored snouts and many other species of
monkeys. Continue to the fabulous tourist site of EBOGO on the banks of
the Nyong River: the majestic and tranquil Mbalmayo Forest Reserve, in
the company of Ebogo’s piroguiers, with tens of thousands of species of
birds and butterflies to observe. Remarkable sites such as the Sappeli
tricentennial (12 m in circumference) The pirogues will tell you about
nature, culture and the work of men in beautiful landscapes. They will
make you discover the secrets of the tropical forest and the Nyong river.
Arrival in Ebogo in the evening, installation at the lodge located on the
banks of the Nyong River, dinner and overnight.
DAY.10.EBOGO-YAOUNDE-EDEA-KRIBI
After breakfast, morning wake up in the middle of the birds songs, after
breakfast, dugout canoe ride on the Nyong river and hike in the forest
towards the Sappeli (12 m circumference). Discovery of the dream caves.
Observation of jacana birds, teals, black kite, jacko, hornbill…and a
multitude of butterflies. Return to the banks of the river, lunch with fresh
fish or shrimps and departure for Kribi via Yaounde. Arrival and
installation at the hotel. The arrival in Kribi is striking; the ocean appears
with its white sand beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see, lined
with rows of coconut palms. The coast of Kribi is the real riviera, a world in contact with the equatorial forest and the ocean.
Londji, the most beautiful beach in Cameroon offers a dream vacation
spot. The Lobé falls flow directly into the ocean in a series of waterfalls, a
phenomenon unique in the world. In a magical setting, this river tumbles
down a thirty meter high cliff, widening the sky with its spray. Lazing on
the beach, dinner and night at the 2* Hotel.
Day 11: KRIBI-EDEA-YAOUNDE/DOUALA-PARIS.
Morning wake up, breakfast Lazing on the beaches, excursion to the
Lobé falls. Stroll on the beach all morning and around 3 pm departure for
Douala International Airport for departure formalities. Flight, end of stay.
